Henry VI pt. 1 by William Shakespeare

direction & sound design by Calvin

Moonlight Becomes You by Jaymie Bellous

directed by Lindsay Alterman, sound design by Calvin

A couple visits an Airbnb and discovers that it’s haunted by a drag queen’s ghost. A thunderstorm and a faulty record player conjure the poltergeist. Below are various sketches of the thunder and record player interacting to create a haunted ambiance, all created in collaboration with the director.

Perish in the Flood by Mo Holmes

direction and sound design by Calvin

In the 1920s in Harlem, a gathering of Black artists and intellectuals is derailed by a reading of their White friend’s new novel, entitled N***er Heaven (his version, uncensored). As the ensemble comes face-to-face with their own biases and fears, the theatrical reality blurs and the fourth wall dissolves. In “Part V,” you can skip through a 16-minute underscoring where the music takes us out of the historical fiction of the 1920s.

The play also had a live song written into the script, and Calvin composed a simple piano part for an actor to play as accompaniment. The rehearsal track is below.
